Michael Cline, Vice President, Investor Relations and Treasurer and Corporate Secretary, Great Plains Energy
Michael Cline is responsible for all financing and investing activities, cash management, leasing and investor, bank, and rating agency relations, and also serves as the Corporation's Secretary.
Mr. Cline has more than 25 years of corporate finance, treasury and risk management experience and held positions of increasing responsibility at Caterpillar Inc., Sara Lee Corporation, Sprint and Corning Inc. before joining GPE as Director, Corporate Finance in 2001. He was promoted to Assistant Treasurer in 2002 and, during 2004, was temporarily re-assigned to lead GPE's Sarbanes-Oxley compliance initiative. He was promoted to Treasurer and Chief Risk Officer in 2005, assumed the role of Vice President Investor Relations and Treasurer in 2008 and added the role of Corporate Secretary in 2010.
Mr. Cline earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, summa cum laude, from Bradley University, Peoria, Ill., and a master's in Business Administration from Illinois State University in Normal-Bloomington. He serves on the board, the finance committee, and is chairman of the investments committee of Kansas City Young Audiences, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing arts education and training to children in the Kansas City area. He is a member of the Financial Executives Institute and the National Investor Relations Institute. He is also a Level II candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute.
