Ellen Fairchild, Vice President, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer, Great Plains Energy and KCP&L

As Vice President, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer, Ellen Fairchild communicates with the board of directors and company shareholders on governance-related issues. In addition, she oversees the company's Corporate and Operations Compliance programs, Environmental Services and Audit Services.

Mrs. Fairchild joined KCP&L in January 2008 as Director, Investor Relations, and in June 2010, she was promoted to Senior Director, Investor Relations, and Assistance Corporate Secretary. She was named to her current position in November 2010.

From 1986 to 2002, Mrs. Fairchild served as Director, Investor Relations, and, subsequently, Vice President, Investor Relations, for Aquila Inc. in Kansas City, Mo. She also served as Manager, Finance, and Manager, Shareholder Relations, for UtiliCorp United Inc., which later became Aquila Inc. Prior to that she was a Staff Auditor and Staff Accountant-Accounts Payable for Missouri Public Service, a division of UtiliCorp United.

In addition, she has served as an Account Manager for Hagen and Partners, a marketing/communications company in Leawood, Kan., and Director, Christian Education, for Lee's Summit United Methodist Church in Lee's Summit, Mo.

Mrs. Fairchild is a member of the board of directors of Lee's Summit Social Services and Gillis, an agency to help at-risk children and families reach their potential through education, counseling and social services.

She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., and an M.B.A. from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.
