Heather Humphrey, Senior Vice President, Corporate Services and General Counsel, leads KCP&L’s Legal, Regulatory, Human Resources, Safety, Security, Facilities, Business Continuity, and Supply Chain divisions.
Before joining KCP&L in 2007, Ms. Humphrey was a partner with Shughart Thomson & Kilroy in Kansas City, Mo., where she practiced business and employment litigation for more than 11 years. While in private practice, Ms. Humphrey spent several years as hiring partner and served on the firm’s strategic planning committee. Prior to that, she was a law clerk for the Honorable W. Duane Benton at the Missouri Supreme Court.
Ms. Humphrey graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She received her J.D. from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Mo., and M.B.A. from the Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is licensed in Missouri and Kansas and admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Missouri and District of Kansas.
Ms. Humphrey serves on the board of directors for The Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired and is on the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art Business Council. She is a 2005 graduate of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Centurions Leadership Program and co-chairs the Mayor’s Commission on Summer Youth Employment.
