James A. Mitchell
Director since 2002

Mr. Mitchell is the Executive Fellow-Leadership, Center for Ethical Business Cultures (since 1999), a not-for-profit organization assisting business leaders in creating ethical and profitable cultures. He retired as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IDS Life Insurance Company, a subsidiary of the American Express Company, in 1999. He also serves on the Board of Capella Education Company (1999-present). Mr. Mitchell served as a member of the Executive, Compensation and Development, and Governance Committees during 2009. Mr. Mitchell is also a director of our two public utility subsidiaries, KCP&L and GMO.
